What else do you do for fun? Pics of the toys you have

PRETTY Tanks. Saltwater tanks can be a full time job sometimes. I stick with fresh. Right now all I have is the big 80 gal freshwater I maintain at work.

Sorry to hear about the cancer :( That bites big time.

Matt, I thought we were bad for buying whole beans and grinding them daily! Whole Foods used to roast their own beans in the store and I would always try to get some as they finished. Sadly, they stopped doing it and took out the beautiful copper roaster. Fresh roasted coffee beans are awesome! Let us know how it turns out!

Well, I have always had a passion for coffee (it started in my grad school days...late nights in the lab, etc, etc). So now I have procured my 4-lb roasting drum from RKDrums.com and I plan to setup my BBQ coffee roaster using my gas grille. I have 8-lbs of green coffee beans (various different locations around the world) from Sweet Marias and I'll see what I can produce....or I might just start a huge coffee bean fire ;)

What a fun thread! And what talent you guys have! I especially love crafty talents like Denise and Jamie. Such beautiful stuff! I love to read so I spend a lot of my free time doing that. I used to knit and target shoot at the gun range but that's difficult for me now with nerve damage in my hands. I spend a lot of time with teenagers.

This picture was taken Saturday in front of my house. I'm an Area Coordinator for foreign exchange students. It's a part-time job but we spend a lot of our free time doing activities or hosting game nights and I often play a role of counselor and teacher for them as well.

I'm also a professional amateur photographer and it's probably one of my greatest passions. Especially photos of my family. Here are a few taken recently.

Hubby with our dog Pickle, and my MIL's Great Dane, Bruce.

My son, Jace.

My son, Jaiden.

We also love Star Wars. [emoji23]. Here is Yoda drinking some hot chocolate.

I enjoy dehydrating foods.

And we spend far too much time on Snapchat. The teenagers got us using it (to monitor them of course) and my kids get the biggest kick out of it.

So for entertainment purposes only... [emoji23]

And my Korean daughter:

twinkiesmommy2009, is Bruce still a puppy? I used to think of Great Danes as big dogs until we got Orwell, our American Mastiff (seen by the pool in my pic back when he was about a year old), now I mainly think of them as tall and thin.

Yes, he's about 8 months old in the picture I think. My SIL has a boy that's even bigger than Bruce. His head came up to my shoulders on all fours. Theirs have always been kind of stocky Danes.

Pickle, who is next to Bruce is a 50lb blue lacy. Bruce was already about 90lbs I think there.

This is Tank with my 5'10'' nephew. You can't see his head here but it's wide and huge. He's almost a year.

Ah, around here the majority of deer hunting is on hunting leases with limited number of members on timber land (there are waiting lists to join these leases, and often it is about who you know that is already on the lease when an opening comes up). Until about 25-30 years ago the majority of the timber land was open to anyone to hunt on, then the timber companies realized people will pay lots of money to hunt on their land (I suspect liability laws had something to do with it too), the timber is all pine on a 25-30 year crop rotation, usually thinned out at 10-15 years after planting, so the lease members often erect fairly substantial stands, clear sight lines with tractors, etc. It is not uncommon for a single hunter to have 5 or 6 prepostioned stands on a given thousand plus acre lease, they even built substantial camp sites with permanent buildings on the lease land. I am thankful that I don't have to worry about all that, and don't have to worry about some idiot in the woods with a gun on the public land options either. Instead I have the family cattle ranch, which is just under 400 acres, about 40 acres wooded along a creek that runs through the middle and with timber land on most of 3 sides. It may not have as many deer as some of the more remote wooded timber land areas, but only a handful of people are allowed to hunt on it so it works out, and I am not that serious of hunter anyway, unlike some people.

Ike

You have a nice travel route, plus cover and water. I'd be happy enough to strap a stand to a tree somewhere in there. I shot my buck in a small block of woods 30 yards from a field. He was passing through, following a doe.

I've been meaning to ask if you've gotten started roasting. Can you roast considerably less than 4 pounds in the drum? I ask because my first attempt at roasting coffee, albeit in a very small air roaster, resulted in some excellent charcoal. It may also take a few roasts to figure out temperature settings and roast time. Sweet Marias is a good resource, though.

Another resource is http://homeroasters.org/
The forum there has a BBQ roasters section that might be helpful.

Thanks for the website.

No, life's been hectic lately and I've not had time to setup my drum. I bought a new rotisserie rod for it and just have to do a dry run to make sure I've got it all set right.

The drum can easily roast down to a 1/2-lb of coffee, so I'm good there. My plan is start off just short of a pound to see how long the roasting profile is for first-crack. I'm the only coffee drinker in our home so a pound of beans will go a long way. My plan is to scale up slowly as I have extended family around the country that want some roasted beans. So it should be fun for keeping me supplied and making gifts for others.

Once I get some time, I'll document my setup and post a new thread over in the Coffee Bar sub-forum.

OH this is fun!!!!!!! AND . . . I am super jealous of some of your talents and toys!!

For me - my life revolves around my hubby (who I have known since I was 6 years old) and our dogs. He loves motorcycles and has 2 - an older Suzuki Intruder that stays in pieces in our garage and this Spyder which is so much safer for him since he has balance issues with his MS.

We have no kiddos according to the IRS - but I beg to differ.

The one thing that I am good at and I love to do is cook. ANYTHING. Seriously - I absolutely love spending all day in the kitchen - I love cooking for other people. Since it is only the two of us, a few nights a week I text my best friends (who are also neighbors) and say who wants dinner. The first to respond gets dinner delivered to their home. I am a true foodie - I love eating almost as much as cooking and take pictures of my food almost daily! - here was last nights dinner.

We also love to entertain. We have a huge Halloween Party every year, the last few years I have hired a "fortune teller" and had everyone's fortunes read - so much fun! Before the pinched nerves in my neck - I also ran a small home business making wreaths and garlands (you can see some in this pic).

Last, but not least - GUNS! This girl loves the smell of gun powder! My dad is a gunsmith and owns a gunshop - so we probably own more guns than most people find "normal" We shoot often, love going to the range or the deer lease, playing on 4-wheelers and blowing stuff up :) I also have to mention my nephew Josh - he is in the pic here with the hubs, he is also a gunsmith, my husband's best friend and spends a few weekends a month with us helping around the house with things my hubby can no longer take care of.

Hilarious Sunbaby. We have six dogs that like to think they own the house, and yes, they are our kids as well. As for the guns, they are starting to stack-up in our household as well. Nice way to relieve some tension. Love the Halloween décor!
