New Build - Rectangular - Phoenix, AZ

Very nice looking pool! Sorry to hear that they screwed up on the CYA.

Our build in process was originally going to have Blue Granite pebble sheen, but we switched to Blue Surf. After seeing your pool I am confident we made the right decision.

:) I am sure you will like it. The Blue Granite is nice, but tends to be a tad greyish on the shallow end. Some like grey, some like blue.. I am all for blue!

That is the only thing I would accept! Trucked water only and fast!

Kim

I will be meeting the PB's representatives tomorrow. Will see what they say. I am going to stick to my decision.

Cover installation going on today... I think I know more about covers and tips on how to get it right, than the PB himself... :D

Wow - everything looks fantastic! I love the rock bed around your pool. And look at that water - absolutely perfect with the waterline tile and your glass tile. It looks like all three were designed for each other! That's so awesome....

One suggestion.... In your signature, update with 'Blue Surf' next to 'Pebble Sheen'. I found that to be so helpful when I saw pictures posted of pool color that I really loved. Especially if it was an old thread and the thread owner was no longer around to ask for the specific color. And it would be especially helpful since there are still so few pictures online of the new color.

I'm still enthralled with the tile on the flat surface near the cover box and the match with the water! That is stunning!!!

Ooh you have the rolling umbrella from Costco. We have that too. It's awesome.

Yes, that's a good umbrella... I added 4 bags of pea gravel in the base containers and it seems to be rock-steady. Didn't want to get a colorful one and risk HOA complaints. So, we bought the ever-present AZ brown shade :)

The cover is done. They still have to add the number panel and WiFi connection to the cover tomorrow. That way, I get TXT notifications whenever the cover is open/closed and who did it.
They also added some kind of 'magnetic' switch that shuts off the water features if the cover is closed/closing. Pretty neat! Would be a disaster if water features were to be turned on when cover is closed!

That's so awesome about your cover and all the remote controls and notifications! I'd love to have one just for the gadgetry!!! Honestly, I don't hear about covers down here in Houston. But along about December when the leaves all begin falling, I'm going to wish I had one!

I have the cover for three reasons - safety, keeping dust out and minimize heat loss during the short winter. I am planning on keeping the pool heated all winter.
They say that for pools that are not covered, the cost to keeping the pool heated is around $100-$130 per month (heat pumps are frugal)... I am hoping to keep the costs down to around $70-$100 with the cover.

If it gets too expensive, will bypass heater :)

So, we drained 2/3 of the pool today. PB says since the pebble is almost fresh (4 days old), refilling it immediately is not required. So, I am filling it again with 2 garden hoses. Should take 12 hours or so to fill up.
Trying to keep the pebble wet every hour.

The PB contracted the startup procedures and pool school to another company that is close to our house.

I think the company that does startup screws up pools on purpose... because it is repeat business for them. In my case, the guy came an hour EARLY prior to his appointment... Was stealthy enough not to make noises outside... dumped LARGE amounts of CYA (more than double) immediately after getting into the property! Definitely on purpose, since he can then sell me c*ap later on.. plus sign me up for a $135 per month service!

I am so mad at these scum bags!

Not naming companies as per the forum rules, but if anyone is in PHX and want my first hand experience, please PM me...

I bet you are onto something! "Oh look we can fix your pool for $$" unreal!

They were not counting on you having your own GOOD test kit! HAHA! The joke is on them!

Kim

Spot on! When I confronted them about the CYA being high, they initially said that Leslie's tests are wrong and unreliable ... but agreed that the CYA could be around 90-100, which is acceptable for a salt pool. (Mine was around 145). So, I casually asked him which test is accurate...he said a 'melamine' precipitation test is the most accurate, but only professionals use that!

Viola.. I pulled out TF-100 and showed him that this is indeed the melamine precip test and he had no answer. Also did a diluted test on the spot.

The PB is blaming on the "tech" from the 3rd party pool services company.
Heard them talking among themselves that the "tech" got overwhelmed and was not paying attention.
Wonder how many households have been duped by this local pool "services" company!

This made me LOL for real. I bet the look on his face was priceless!
