Another Pool Build in Cypress, TX

Ya'll are so funny!!! I wish I had time to answer everyone, but I'm going to move on with the next set of pictures. Yesterday afternoon and evening's pictures of the landscape in one night event.

As soon as the acid guys left yesterday, I jumped in the car to exchange the 50ft hose for a 100ft one. When I pulled up this is what waited in the driveway!!!! Yay! Plants!!!

Look at all those lovely plants!!! I'm in heaven!

That's Wes, the owner of the landscape company. A few of the guys had been itchin' to get the rest of the fence put back up, so I wasn't surprised that this was one of the first things they did. It's a good solid fence and gate, but it needs some power washing and staining. That will wait until fall when it's a little cooler. This part of the fence is very important to Killer, so he will be glad. When it rains, he sits up there at the garage end and sulks with his ears flat. Many times, he doesn't even want inside. He just wants to make sure everyone knows how unhappy he is!!! (I have to include a picture here, too....

Wes wasn't happy that the hardened slurry was still in the backyard where I wanted our swing. He wanted his guys to finish that night, and I wouldn't let them dig the post holes for the big uprights of the swing stand until we could place the swing and see how it looked there - you, what angle, how far forward or how far to the back. So Wes gave up on MMG coming to remove the slurry, so he and the guys broke it up and wheel-barrowed it to the front lawn. I wasn't thrilled about that all on my grass, but eventually MMG did come pick it up later that afternoon.

Working on the back pathway connecting the two ends of the deck on either side of the raised pool wall. Crushed granite and flagstone. What is it with landscapers and crushed granite. It must be cheap, cheap, cheap.

The azaleas have been placed and now waiting to be planted.

The guys working on the swing stand arbor thingy - I don't know what you call that! It really isn't an arbor or pergola, but the style is similar.

I wish I could have captured this man's face, but he almost never lifted his head. He's the dad of one of the workers and begged Wes for a job. He had to be in his 80's if not older. OMG..... I was scared to death he was going to fall over dead! It was 103 outside and he was pushing wheel barrows full of crushed granite and later of flagstone. I decided I better get a picture of him while still alive. What determination to work and support himself. BTW, he came with the second crew added to the first crew. Wes was so determined they finish that night. I wanted to buy dinner - the guys were working so hard without a break. Wes said they were big boys and would survive. Glad I don't work for him. But no one acted unhappy.

A better view of the area behind the garage. I need to find a before picture.... I'll let you guys decide which one is the before and which is the after. It's not easy posting the before picture - it's SOOOOO BAD!

I have to run Nick to visit some friends, so I'll try to finish later.... only a few more of landscape and then a few of the pool again after plaster.

Thanks everyone!
Suz.

We got to see a little of the pool in these landscape pictures! So pretty!

Wes knows what he is talking about with the food. If the guys ate too much in that heat and doing that hard work it would slow them down and could have made them not feel good. I am sure they had food in their trucks they grabbed as they could.

Wes sounds like a hard worker and expects his people to work hard also. The older fellow is a prime example..."If you come work for me you will have to prove to me you can do the work" is properly what he said. I bet he also pays a fair days pay or they would not stay one and work so hard.

It looks awesome! I see the lounger/swing I will be camped out on!!!! That blue one in the before pic!

LOL at Killer on his wall of MAD!

Here's the last of the photos from yesterday.

The guy standing on top of the structure scared me to death. But I saw him today, so he's alive.

This is one of the Project Managers. He's super. I really enjoyed working with him. He's probably telling the guy standing up there to get down - not OSHA compliant!

The last of the landscaping photos. I took this shot from inside early this morning when I first got up. I wish now I had turned off our flood lights, but you can still sort of see the landscape lighting especially on the trees.

A few closeups from yesterday after the acid wash. Someone said they wanted to see the Shell Beach tiles. They show better in person and of course, in the sunlight. I think I took these shots last evening or early this morning.

That's All Folks!!!

SUZ!!!!!!! It is wonderful! I know you took those pics of the ledge just for me! THOSE are what it is all about! Just wait until the water is on them and the sun is shining! BLING!

I bet the boss guy was NOT happy with mr. man ON the top of your swing cover!

Those landscaping lights look awesome! Where is THE tree? The one you really wanted? I think it should get it's own pic!

Thanks Kim!!! I think I'm in shock. I look outside and wonder where I am!!

Ok, I'll take a picture this evening of THE tree, and one in the early morning. It is a Texas Mountain Laurel Tree and is the one in the raised stone planter on the right side of the yard.

I hope this link works. It is such a glorious, small tree. The fragrance of the blossoms send me over the moon. Sadly, it's one of the slowest growing trees. I probably won't live long enough to see it as it is in the picture in the link. But if I get one or two blossoms a season, I will be thrilled.

A big sigh.
What a couple of days Suz.
After all the hurry up and wait days, it really came together in a rush.
You are probably full by now.
So soon you will be floating in paradise.

Thanks, Oz. No, the pool isn't full yet.... The spa is. I'm guessing it needs another 12-15 inches. The pool pump guy comes in the morning to start up everything!

Will it turn blue then? It's Sooooo green now.
Thanks,
Suz.

I agree. Look fabulous!! The green will go away but it may take a few days depending if it's metals or algae or what-not. My PB floated a couple cans of "magenta stuff" as the pool was filling, so I assume they will probably add that if its metals.

I might also suggest cleaning your filter once a week for the first month. You will be brushing up a lot of plaster dust which will end up in your filter (if it's the cartridge type). Your startup guy will probably go over it with you. Other than the brushing and balancing, you're over the hump!
