Fiberglass Pool and Scaling

The owner of Barrier Reef seems to think this problem results from the water reaching a saturation point of calcium chloride. Once this saturation point is reached, the CaCl leeches into the gel coat. Says it is a bit of a mystery within the industry at the moment. He referred me to the maker of Jack's Magic. Apparently this guy is working on finding a remedy for this specific problem. Looks like I'm going to add a border tile around the waterline and try things I've seen online to remove the scale below the waterline. This sucks, but the tile will look better than the fiberglass prior to the scale formation anyways. I always thought that looked kind of cheap.

Bummer is it is only a problem when the gelcoat has the calcium carbonate filler material, quite frankly that filler material is used to save money...as a positive, I have tile on my waterline and it looks awesome.

Best of luck !
