What did you do to your pool today?

I've taken the cover off to get things melting but I have to complete plumbing repairs before opening for good. I had to cut off and plug the main drain line due to the valve not holding air lock on the main drain line. So... to fire up the pump and get things clean, I'm replumbing all of the suction side valves leading to the pump. All the ice is now gone so I'm on the rush to get parts and get it done so I can get things cleaned up before algae has a chance. Water is still in the 40s so not much chance of it going green but I'd rather stay ahead of the game.

Trying to plan out my plumbing solution replacing 3 2-way valves with 2 3-way valves while still being able to direct water the way I want and close during the winter. Trying to figure out how to used the side of the Ts, rather than the center to be the "inlet" because I have limited width to keep the plumbing going where it needs to. I'll probably post a thread with pics and get some feed back before committing. Probably will be a bit of dry fit testing and maneuvering.

How is the Glacier thaw going JV?

Looked at the drawings of my pool. Dreamed about where it will go and how happy I will be floating and drinking once all of this mess and stress is over. Does that count??

If I could handle the blood thirsty mosquitoes right now I would be laying out on my tanning ledge. Well - its just dirt and dog toys now. But a girl can dream. I would even apply extra sunscreen - I know how the sun likes to reflect off my beautiful, TFP Crystal Clear water and . . . sigh. Soon.

I looked at my pool today when I came home from work. That's about all I'll do with it today.

Whaja waitin for? Take it off!

It's so tempting, wanting beautiful weather to go with that beautiful pool.
Probably this weekend we'll add water and get pump and filter set up to circulate. We have a maple tree that still has leaves and buds that will be dropping soon. So cleaning out the skimmer and vacuuming all that junk will not be as fun for this "pool girl" if we can't swim.
I did buy a nice fountain to attach to the return jet, so that would be nice to look at while waiting for the weather and water temp to cooperate. :jocolor:
We do have a heater, so swimming in May is very likely, but not April and 60 deg outside.

P.S. Is there a smilie for shivering cold that us northerners can use? LOL

Last night, I drained and washed off the water bags getting them ready for storage. Re-gen(ed) the softener for some fill this morning.

Ran the chems, and my FC was 1.2 ...........OOPS! :jocolor:

Cya is under 30, so I'm picking up some today...

Yes, I hit it with some FC before bed. :stirpot: :whoot:

[emoji33] maybe? That's the face I make during first swim of the year.

That "face" looks like us too when we jump in. :D

Water temp, 50  Will be hooking up the pump this weekend and circulating till the buds have fallen off the tree. Usually that's when we have an ice storm in April. Or a big rain storm and everything comes down. LOL Then the cover will come off. Looking forward to using our new water fountain feature to watch untill we can go swimming. :swim:

Flipped the switch to the pump for an hour n shut it off.

Because I'm a Pool Nerd, I'm going to run a chemical volume calculation on the pool today. It's done with Acid/TA manipulation, and the move is calculated into volume. I'm close enough, but I wanted to do this last year and never got to it.

So that's what I'll be doing (mostly) to my pool today. At least for this morning....:stirpot: :testkit: :deal:

You can read about doing this yourself right here: Chemical way of Calculating Pool volume

I'll be using Acid instead of using Bi-Carb since my pH and TA are so high.
