Whats up everyone. I am still having issues with my brand new VSP communicating with my aquaplus. I previously had a 3202VSPND for 8 years with no issue. Got the VSP Comm Error this year and pool company diagnosed the pump as bad. I replaced pump with Tristar VS900. I am getting the same error so I dont know if the main board is having issues. I have replaced the communication line just to be safe. Is the Board a common failure on the aquaplus? I tested the voltage on A to Com and B to Com - both showing a little more than a 1 volt. Any other ways to diagnose board? Anyone know what voltage should be? I dont want to spend the money if I dont have to... based on the error still happening I am getting my original pump didnt fail. Any ideas for me to try?

We do not recommend probing the RS-485 lines as it can blow out the comm chip.
RS-485 protocol is low voltage and there is nothing to be learned using a multimeter.
The typical way of testing RS-485 on a board is to connect another RS-485 device to it and see if it works.

If you have a smart heater, another pump, smart transformer, or anything else that is connected to the rs-485 port and is still working it’s not the port.
When have connected two different vsp pumps and both game the same vsp error. I have a remote heater.
How would a low voltage multimeter blow out a chip. I have two different cap pumps giving the same symptoms. VSP comm error. One pump is brand new.

Shorting the TX and RX wires.
Could be an Omni Configuration error.
Did you go through Configuration and see the HUA on the new pump?
I just had to set dip switches to all off which is the same as my old pump.

The only way to check the board is to connect a different RS-485 device to it and see if it works. Chris listed the possible devices.
A remote heater using the Firemans switch relay connection on the board differs from a Smart Heater using the RS-485 connection.
