AquaRite S3 Salt Reading Way High

Hi all! I'm working on tackling my first season as a pool owner and so far I've spent the majority of the my time working to ensure my water is balanced properly. One thing I've noticed, however, is that as I've tested my salt levels at the pool stores and at home test kits, both are coming up significantly lower than what is showing up on my Hayward AquaRite S3 Salt System (25,000 gal) control panel screen. Sometimes upwards of 1,000PPM difference.

Given that multiple test sources are coming in consistent with the numbers being lower than what the Aquarite screen is reading, I am curious if anyone with this system has run into a similar issue, and if so, how you went about re-callibrating or offsetting that number so that you aren't constantly in the "High Salt Alarm" state on screen while operating with what are actually the optimum salt levels?

Appreciate the help and looking forward to being a part of the community here!

Welcome to TFP.

There is no calibration on Hayward SWG systems. Salinity is based on the volts and amps of new cells.

Check that the cell type is set correctly.

I have the same system and mine read high with the "high salt alarm" from the time it was new until it was used for about 5 months. I knew my salt level was fine and searched the internet for reasons and even called Hayward (waste of time), but never found anything. It was working just fine producing chlorine so I gave up and let it go. Just within the last week or so it started reading more accurately to what I was getting through my testing, but still a little high.

This is helpful to hear. So essentially keep testing and if those numbers look good, don’t stress as much about the screen?

Appreciate this literature! I am out of town until Monday but will get a picture as soon as I return.

Just curious if you have the latest firmware on your controller? I note the latest indicates it calculates salt readings better. Haven’t installed it yet myself so can’t give personal feedback yet. Mine reads high.
