I ended up going with this model from Lowe’s, it looks suspiciously similar to the one from Hayward. It worked excellently for me, or at least revealed how horrible the previous one was.
It is weighted, allows for debris to come in through the a gap in the brushes, and the brushes look replaceable.
I’ve had pools for 20 years and never vacuumed, I thought that was just a gimmick. Always used the bugs, the whales, the automatics.
This gave me confidence that I can actually vacuum my pool.
