All,
Using a new pool company this year for our community pool- 50k gallons. After opening Monday they tested free CL at 1.6 and combined CL at 13. They are recommending emptying pool and starting over or adding cloe to 100 lbs of shock. We weren't happy with previous company as pool was left with algae and high CYA that we tried to treat with bio product.
What would recommendation be here?,

What was the CYA then and what is it now?

What exact product was added and how much product was added?

Please post a full set of test results.
The company tested very little cya at opening- close to zero. With our test kit and test strips we came up with same readings. We used the attached product at end of pool season at recommendation of previous company. From memory it knocked measured cya by a good chunk but still over 100 so we were going to use it again but now no/minimum CYA

generic forum questions- if I have multiple questions - separate threads for each?
I posted yesterday about CC at 13- got responses which I undertand
Initial questions: its a 50k hoa pool, with a pool company coming weekly- we use a chlorine tablet dspenser in pool room. We have high CYA and I understand the issue of CYA and stabilized tablets so how to handle if using pucks- assuming using liquid not feasible unless we get a dispenser? Please advise?
Or do we shock it x times a week to bring down CC?
Thx

Outdoors, you should not get a lot of CCs unless the bather load is high.

If you get persistent CCs due to high bather load, consider a UV system.

Maybe get a SWG.

You can get a commercial salt system or just use 2 residential systems, which will be a lot cheaper.

Keep all your questions on one thread. It helps understand the history, context, and overall conversation.

Handle what?

Tablets cause CYA to get high. Only fix is to drain water from the pool to lower CYA.

You have a separate thread discussing your high CC.
