Does anyone have a (larger) bucket/container recommendation for mixing CC with their pool water (per instructions) as the reaction exothermic and i definitely felt like the container I used definitely warp/ possibly slightly melt the first time I did it…

Calcium products should be spread across the surface of the deep end of the pool, and brushed until dissolved...

Forget the instructions.

I slowly broadcast the calcium chloride using a scoop onto the surface of the pool. If any settle onto the pool floor I push it around with my pool brush until it dissolves.

Calcium Chloride anhydrous gives 317.2 Btu/lb. when dissolved in water.

Solubility in water = 74.5 g/100ml at 20°C.

Adding 1 lb anhydrous CaCl2 to less than 0.3 gallons of water will result in the water boiling (Water temp = 84 degrees before adding CaCl2.)

Y = Temperature Rise.

X = Gallons of water.

For 1 lb CaCl2.

Gallons.....Temperature rise (F).

0.12...............317.2

0.161...............236.4 (Maximum Solubility is 1 lb in 1.34 lbs of water).

0.24...............158.6.

0.30...............128 (128 + 84 = 212).

0.48.................79.3

1.0...................38

1.5...................25

2.0...................19

2.5...................15.2

3.0...................12.67

As long as you do not add too much calcium chloride to the water, it will not get excessively hot.

For 1 lb CaCl2.
