Brand new pool owner, struggling to figure out my equipment

I see two pipes. The one furthest from the pool wall has suction, nothing from the other.
PS,

This most likely means that your main drain is connected into the bottom of your skimmer... For all practical purposes, this means that you have no operating main drain.. Not a big deal, as you don't really need it..

Assuming the above is true, then most likely your 'bad' pump gets its water from the covers that are in the side wall of your pool..

I don't know much about your bad pump, but would assume that the shaft seal is bad... along with it not running.. If it 'hums' there is a possibility that the start cap is bad.. Normally found under the hump... That said, at this point, I would not spend a lot of time working on it.. Up to you of course...

I think @JamesW has a pretty good handle of your style of pump...

I took a quick look at your "SunTouch".. automation.. Tell me how it is set-up to run now???

Does it now turn the pump on and off via a schedule? Does it change the pump speeds?? Are you using it for anything?

How many hours a day does your pump run? What is the output of your SWCG set to produce??

Thanks,

Jim R.

Run the tests and let us know the following...

FC 12.64
CC
pH 7.8
TA 86
CH 231
CYA 31
Salt 2388
I have not yet received my kit so I’m still reliant on Leslie’s to test most of these numbers. Is CC the same as Total Chlorine on a Leslie’s test? If so that value is 13.27.

FC = Free Chlorine
CC = Combine Cloring
TC = FC + CC. We don't use TC, it doesn't tell us anything.
FC and CC are important.

I think I was able to get it running 23:45 a day. With the setting as single body setting it is now displaying a low and high speed setting. I have not been able to confirm that it is running the high speed setting with the schedule.

The SWCG is currently set to 50% for 6 hours a day. But my FC levels look way too high.

PS,

50% this time a year on an 11K pool is a lot...

But.. You can't know if your FC is too high, or too low, unless you know your CYA level..

Look at your main pool pump and see if there is a small cable from the Control Head going back to the SunTouch.. Also, if the pump has a Display, tell me what it shows, when the pump is running..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Yes, there is a comms cable connecting the pump to the SunTouch Control System.

According to the test at Leslie’s CYA is 31.

PS,

That is perfect..

The fact that the pump's display shows "Display not active" means that the SunTouch is controlling the pump.. Exactly what should happen... :goodjob:

You should be able to set up several pump speeds and schedules.. not sure you need them.. Also not sure how to program the SunTouch, as everything is written in "Pentair".. :(

I'll see if I can make any sense out of the manual...

I suspect that schedule of 8 am to 8 am will run the pump 24/7...
