Order of Operations Opening for the Season

Before testing, did you let the pump run? I have to wait about 24 hours to test CYA and chlorine or else I don't get accurate results.
Don't adjust anything until you are comfortable with your results.

Below are my test results after opening the pool for the season. What order should I address the alkalinity, PH and Chlorine?

FC: 5.5
pH: 7
TA: 40
CYA: 70 (this value is suspiciously high based on the value when closing the pool)
What adjustments do you think are required?

I opened the pool last week and slowly refilled it (1” or so per day). I’ve been running the pump 24/7 since the refilled water fully covered the hose openings. I’ve also been brushing and vacuuming multiple times daily.

The reason I question the CYA is because 70 is what I recorded at the end of last season and I know that I drained and refilled some water. CYA is also the most subjective of the measurements which makes me question it until I get consistent results.

Did you let the test sample warm up to room temperature before doing the CYA test?

I think I need to raise the TA to 50, increase the FC a bit. I imagine the pH is close enough to wait for the aeration ti raise it but it will be affected by the TA adjustments.
If the pH is stable leave the TA alone.

What is the pH and TA of your fill water?

Fill water is pH 6.8 and TA of 20.
You may need to add a small amount of baking soda at times with that fill water.

Don't overdo it. A TA of 50-60 is fine. If your pH is stable with a TA of 40 then leave it but monitor it.
