Loop Loc solid cover cost

What’s a fair price to have my loop loc cover replaced? Pool company quoted me at 3500$ the new cover will fit the existing anchors so no additional installation is required. It will be a solid cover (not mesh)

Sounds about right. Those are some seriously well made covers and should last many years. Is it the same company that did your original cover?

I paid $2750 for a 20x40 LL dense mesh in 2022. The insall was another $500 but they don't need to drill for yours.

Nothing got cheaper since then and your slightly smaller cover probably washes that mine was a mesh. I'd guess $3500 was fair.

Sounds about right. Those are some seriously well made covers and should last many years. Is it the same company that did your original cover?

Yes, but here’s the thing… I bought the house 3 years ago. Original owner left all receipts. I found a receipt from when they first did this cover (12 years ago) it cost 2200 with the installation of anchors. I mean did prices really increase that much to now it’s 3500 for the same cover without any drilling of anchors? I don’t think it’s actually the loop loc company just the same kind of cover (made by Garrett)

Yes things have spiked. But also, the PB may have cut them a deal originally with all they spent with him.

A lot of things pool related almost doubled since 2020.

Yea man I’m just seriously wondering if it’s even worth it. If I’m paying 3500 and the thing lasts 12yrs (like the first one) I’m looking at almost 300$ a year to keep it covered thru winters lol

There’s some value in not having to worry about wind blowing away your tubes or an animal falling in and decomposing when you don’t notice.

Also should be able to get more than 12 years. My Looploc went a solid 20 years.

Yea the one I have now is 12 years old. It’s brittle and starting to get small holes and the fabric is starting to fray in some areas. No idea if the previous owners took any care of it. I doubt it tho.

I, on the other hand have OCD when it comes to the pool and I won’t even leave an inch of snow on the Dang thing

Cover gets cleared off before my sidewalks haha

Im also ready to pull the trigger on a Pentair cl40. I was originally nervous about my pools steel walls (prob from the 80s) but as most mentioned there should be no more corrosion then from a regular chlorine pool. The term “salt” tends to hit a different way when thinking about steel

You are getting real life lessons about inflation and depreciation.

Physical assets almost all have a cost to ownership and replacement is often more expensive.

Unlike the cover, you won't feel the pinch that Leslie's is charging almost double what I bought my replacement cell for in 2019. I WISH they only went up 50% like the cover.

Yea it’s wild… 3k to install the SWG.. pretty sure I can just do it myself. Replacement cells 1,400

Why the solid cover over the mesh. With the mesh you don't have to worry when it rains and snows and won't be problematic unless it's a blizzard and then I'm not sure many people do anything then. You would need to monitor the water in the pool once in awhile but other then that it is set and forget. With the solid cover nothing goes through but it becomes a full time occupation dealing with it all off season.

I wonder if that the difference in mine lasting 20 years vs the OP at 12 years. Mine may not be in use as long throught the year as well though.

There seems to be no end to the whole 'they don't make em like they used to' thing.

Every 5 years I wish XYZ was made 5 years earlier, when 5 years ago, I couldn't believe how low quality they had become.

But UV also probably plays a big role. I'm not expecting my cover to break any records with full sun. Unless its the shortest time to failure record maybe.

With a solid cover my water is crystal clear in the spring. All I have to do is vaccum out the worms . Plus I like not having to drain it over the winter etc. We get snow but rarely anything too crazy in Philly. Also the chemistry stays pretty much the same

Rain and snow won't change the chemistry much and is the best water to add but if you have the time go for it.

Anyone who isn't is doing it wrong, regardless of cover type.



But if you like the way you've been doing it, by all means keep doing it.
