Pentair mastertemp 400 is coming on as soon pool pump start. how to find out if is control board or other devices faulty. i stop it running by switch off heater on heater display. i lost whole tank of propane. I though we used it all after we refile the tank, realize heater come up as soon as pool turn, this when i turn of heater. thanks for any help.

Disconnect the two yellow wire nuts and separate the wires.

Show us a picture of what you did.

Put the wire nuts on the two wire stubs connected to the heater. Do not connect the two wires together.

Does the heater then run?

i did that but now display does not come on. i turn heater off from display few days ago now is not coming on.

Good. That shows you that the heater does not run when those wires are disconnected.

If you want to control the heater locally, twist the two wire stubs together and put a wire nut on it, and the heater control panel will work.

There is a problem with the wire you disconnected or the J19 relay connected to the EasyTouch board that keeps it closed and running your heater.

Put your multimeter on the ends of the wire you disconnected and see if it tests open or closed. It should test closed with continuity and not open.

there is 24 volts to controller bd. still no display or any LED on?
I think you have a problem with the fireman’s switch wires you touched.

You have not showed me a picture of that area.

Test for 24V at the FS wires which are to the right of where you tested. Circled in red…
