New VSF Pump Shuts off randomly

rj,

We just had a thread about the IntelliFlo3 starting on its own, when controlled by an EasyTouch automation system. It would start and then shut off, when no schedule was telling the pump to run.. Like it was priming...

Tell us more about what the pump is doing and how it is being controlled..

Thanks,

Jim R.

intellitouch i7 on 1.180 firmware 2 wire connection to pump and i disconnected all other serial ports. Pump will shut off randomly for about 30 secs and restart. No loss of prime and no errors on the pump app. Pump light stays purple (meaning connected to automation) the whole time but if you do a test of disconnecting the serial port from the pump, the pump will run for 1 minute before it shuts off and goes green meaning on wifi and not connected to automation. Drive firmware is controller 1.05, Drive SW 1.06 . Weird

Latest update as the Pentair rep came to to the house and verified the the New Pumps Baud rate is too fast for the old Intellitouch rate. The fix is to roll back the pump to an earlier version or get a new Intellicenter panel. Going to the new tech. This info needs to be a sticky!

It will be added to the Wiki pages.

I'm not sure... it sounds a little odd since the rs485 chips data rates spec sheet says "data rates are guaranteed up to 250Kbps" - which is plenty fast. But if it's true, it seems to me to be an attempt to make the new pumps incompatible with old systems, thereby forcing an upgrade - which I find shady. I'm not sure of any technical reason why they would do this.

Moreover, I don't know what the baud rates for any of the systems actually are - did Pentair say what the alleged rate was for the new pump?

Lastly, I can't imagine this is something that can't be fixed with a firmware update to older Intellitouch/Easytouch systems.

They did not say what the baud rate was but it is a rollback on the pump firmware to talk slower to the older systems
Was the firmware changed on your Intelliflo3 pump for it to work reliably with your IntelliTouch?
