I was thinking of getting a SJ20 and noticed it had a 3 yr warranty while their higher end ones are 7 yrs. Do they typically last well past the warranty date? I currently have a jandy truclear that’s 3.5 years old and it crapped out where the power pack is unresponsive. I don’t know if it’s bad luck, jandy sucks, or all salt chlorinates die after the warrant sunsets.

How big is your pool in Gallons?
Most salt cells last 5 to 7 years...
Many pool builders use cell's that are way too small for the pool. We recommend that a cell be at least 2 x the volume of the pool.. This would mean that your pool would need to be 10K or less.

I saw another member whose RJ-45 lasted 9 years. Mine only lasted 4. At least I got some $$$ off for the prorate amount, and it was still cheaper than liquid chlorine in the long run.

Make sure your plumbing system can accommodate the specific installation instructions for the SJ Series. It's required to be plumbed horizontally at least 6" above the highest point of the plumbing system. My previous SWG used this type of cell. With a variable speed pump at low speeds, air would build up at the top of the cell and eventually expose the plates.

Cells die after X hours of runtime, kinda like the gas tank in your car. It goes as far for both of us, no matter where we live.
But those in hot climates need more run time per day, and then many more days of said runtime with a long season. So it's like I have a short commute and you'll use the gas tank sooner with a long commute.
Many of us are limited to the 2X (minimum TFP reccomended) units because of the size of our pools. With a smaller pool, going 3X or even 4X in a hot climate is entirely reasonable.

3 year old Edge-40 here. It's on a timer to run 8 hours a day, set at 38%. It's still producing, but check cell LED is solid (after cleaning), so may be dying. I think I'd buy the RJ-30 if I had a do-over. Probably buy an Edge-25 cell as backup.
