CH Zero

I just my CH and it is zero. I tested twice using the Taylor as I always do thinking I did something wrong. Zero both times. Is this a bad thing to have a CH 0? If so, what do I do to correct it?

CH of 0 is fine with a vinyl liner pool without a gas heater unless the liner manufacturer specifies differently.

According to my Taylor tested twice I do. A few weeks ago I had CH. And my test are ordered from Taylor and not Amazon and not expired.

Oh I did. I checked to make sure when I tested the second time because that's where I thought I screwed up.

So my test instructions do not say to add 10 drops of the R-0010. It says to add 20. It also says to add 5 drops of the R-0011L not 3.

Are you using a 10ml or 25ml sample of pool water?
Clean your test vial with alcohol, allow it to dry, rinse with pool water and retest CH.

The difference in the instructions is the amount of sample water.

10 drops and 3 drops is for a 10mL sample. Each drop of R-0012 is 25CH.
20 drops and 5 drops is for a 25mL sample. Each drop of R-0012 is 10CH.

The 10mL sample is plenty accurate and uses less reagent.
The 25mL sample is when you think your CH is low.

As @proavia indicates, clean your vial with rubbing alcohol, dry and try again with the 10mL sample directions.

Continue to add drops until the water does NOT change color again, subtract that last drop.

I have been doing strictly but the instructions. Good to know about yo 10ml using less reagent! Will use the alcohol cleaning method as well!
