I have an 8 months old Barracuda G3 which has functioned fine until about 2 weeks ago when it stopped operating at startup.
Side wall suction was set at 50% Suction 50% skimmer the variable speed Jandy Pool pump, which was installed 3 months ago, starts at 3000 RPM every morning. There is a Zodiac leaf canister in the line
Until two weeks ago the G3 would start up and run for the 4 hours cleaning cycle. It covered most of the pool bed.
Now, when the pump starts up it just sits there.
I can get it going by 1. Disconnecting and re-connecting the hose 2. Striking or jostling the hose. 3. Setting the wall suction to 80% which then sends it up the side of the pool for the entire cycle rendering it useless.
I disassembled the unit, there are no obstructions and the diaphragm is intact. I believe I have the proper hose length for my pool.
Through trial and error I discovered the unit will not run at less than 2250 RPM.
I’ve used G3s for over 25 years and never encountered issues such as this.

Is the flow keeper valve thing working correctly?
Perhaps air is getting in the line somewhere /leaky hose? Suction side leak in your plumbing that causes an air bubble upon startup?
Mine was too finicky- I abandoned it for a robot.

I'm thinking maybe a fine leak in the hose or a wonky diaphragm. Do you have a spare diaphragm you can try? Does the suction at the cleaner end seem normal?

Thanks but I figured it out. After the last vacuuming I neglected to purge the excess air from the system. After I purged its situation normal (you can fill in the rest!).

It seems every time I post a problem I can’t solve to TFP I solve it after I post the question. It must be magic.
