Effects of "high" chlorine on equipment

I've switched to liquid chlorine this summer and now try to keep a FC level much higher than the 1-3 I used to, in order to have sufficient sanitation for my level of cya. Currently at 45ppm of cya, keeping chlorine around 5.

I was wondering if, in the long run, this will have any ill effect on either my vinyl liner or any metallic equipment around the pool? Do the neutralizing effects of cya regarding sanitation and chlorine breakdown also prevent chlorine from slowly burning my liner and making my steel fence and pool walls rust from the chlorine fumes?

keeping chlorine around 5.
So. You lose 3 to 4 ppm a day in the peak season. Are you starting at 8 or 9 and drifting down to 5 ? Or staring at 5 and drifting down to 1 or 2 ?

Maybe 2 to 3 ppm lost per day because you're so far north, but still, it swings daily. :)

Also. I'm no fan of the 5 either way for a 50 CYA.

I'm around 5 when I test early in the evening, before adding my chlorine. Lately I've had to add very little chlorine, almost a third of what I did during the summer, as it's getting cold and the pool isn't used anymore.

OK, so the chlorine buffered by cya has absolutely no effect whatsoever on anything, not just on its ability to sanitize?
Pretty much.
