Pool Pump Timer & Capacitor

I have a 15k above ground pool with Waterway - HI-FLO Pump , 2 Speed, 1.5HP, 115 Volt, 48F. I'm using KASA smart timer. This summer I've had to replace the capacitor for times already.

Could the timer be the problem? Any ideas why the capacitor keeps burning out? I live in San Antonio TX and we have very hot summers!

Timer: 15 amps, 125 volts

Four caps is crazy, but our summer temps should not be the issue. I am concerned however that the smart plug is only rated for 15 amps. I wouldn't go any lower than 20 amps for my electrical system (wiring and supporting products). Whether that is the actual reason for the multiple caps going bad I can't confirm, but perhaps something to consider.

A timer controlling a motor needs to be rated for the inductive load of the motor, usually stated in
HP. You cannot go by the amp rating of the timer alone.

That Kasa timer shows no inductive rating and is inadequate to control a pool pump.

Measure the voltage at the capacitor terminals with the motor running if you can do this safely.

Measure the voltage at the pump terminals with the motor running.

Measure the voltage at the timer Line Terminals with the pump off.

Measure the current at the motor supply and at the wires going to the capacitor.

Please show the measurements including the whole meter and connections for each test.

Get a 440 volt capacitor vs. a 370 volt capacitor.

Can you show the pump and motor label?

Check the motor temperature with a noncontact thermometer and look for hot spots.
