Alarm emails in the middle of the night saying “no flow”. I eventually determined the next morning that the breaker for that pump had tripped. Should I blow this off unless it happens again or is further research needed?

You should always try to determine why a breaker has tripped. It could be a short that can cause a fire, damage to the equipment, or harm someone.

~36 hours now and nothing obvious. What troubleshooting is advised?

ETA: I noticed the pump was off around 3am Thursday morning.

Is it a GFCI breaker? If so, what brand? They are known to have issues with nuisance tripping with a VSP. If it isn't a Siemans brand, you may continue to have an issue.
All pool breakers are Siemens (picture attached). ~1 year old.

I would guess a GFCI nuisance trip. Is they anything on that breaker other than the pump? Is there more than one pump on that breaker?

As 1poolman1 recommended, check all the wire connection to make sure they are tight and corrosion free. Be sure to turn off power when doing this.
