Hello everyone,
I'm planning to upgrade my current faulty Jandy multicolor lamp to the newer Jandy WaterColor LED RGBW model (CPLVRGBWS150). My main controller is the Jandy Aqualink RS.Before I start the installation, I have a few questions:

Cabling:
Can I reuse my current cabling, or will I need to recable for the new LED model? If recabling is necessary, any tips on what to look out for?

Transformer and Wiring:
Do I need a special transformer to power the new LED light, or can I plug it directly into the relay on the Aqualink RS board? Also, do I need to make any modifications to the board, like flashing it, or is it just a straightforward connection?

Any advice or experiences you can share would be greatly appreciated! I want to make sure I get everything set up correctly to avoid any issues.
Thanks in advance!

What do you mean by “cabling”? Jandy water colors lights come with pre attached wires and you specify the length you need from 30’ to 150’. The wire needs to be installed with the light.

There is no special transformer. What transformer do you have now?

Jandy Aqualink systems cannot be flashed. The board needs to be replaced to get a new Rev level. What Rev level is your Aqualink?

Jandy Infinite WaterColors LED Light Controller requires Aqualink Revision Y or later.

By Cabling I mean pull the cable from the niche to the controller. I was hoping I can reuse my old cable and niche as they are buld multicolor.
Regarding the second point, how can I see the Aqualink RS revision I have ?

Thank you!

Nope. The light wire is part of the light fixture and not removeable.

Look on the help screen on the iAqualink app.

Got it. PDA-PS6 Combo Rev 7.1.0 (I don't see any letter as revision)

You have an Aqualink PDA system and not an Aqualink RS system.

Jandy does not publish their software versions for consumers to know what is in your PDA version.

Isn't the *Infinite* WaterColors that need Rev Y or older and not the RGBW ones?

Yes, which was what I said above.

You need to verify with a Jandy dealer that the lights you intend to install are compatible with your PDA system.

Thank you for the insights... I feel Jandy is a closed system not open to DIYers... I have 3 Jandy pumps (1 variable pool pump and 2 features). What is my best option to switch to another more open controller/system and plug LED lights?

No one has proven reliable LED pool lights. You pay your money and take your chances.

I replaced all my Jandy stuff over a few years and went to Pentair. IMHO Jandy is the worse and Pentair is the best.
