New Pool Owner - Help with Taylor TF-Pro Kit

Hi -- I recently order the TF-Pro test kit (TF-Pro) to help with testing my water levels. I have been able to successfully test chlorine, alkalinity, calcium, and CYA levels. However, the pH test seems very difficult to read and feels just like the run of the mill test strips that I can buy at any pool store. It relies on my eyes matching very similar shades of red, which I am not very good at nor seems all that precise.

Are there any recommendations for how to best go about testing for pH, or is that my only option?

Same question goes for the daily chlorine test (the yellow half of the daily tester that also tests for pH). The shades of yellow look exactly the same to me -- but maybe that doesn't matter? Is the point of that test to just detect that, yes in fact there is chlorine in the pool, and then on a weekly basis I do the more specific FC and CC tests?

Thanks so much!

That's a frustrating one for me at times too. Especially between 7.6-7.8. I generally do my viewing outside under a patio cover or something so it's not in direct sunlight. I make sure to have a light (white or beige) background as well. Some people find using only 4 drops helps too.

I almost never bother with the yellow OTO side. The FAS-DPD is much more accurate and reliable by separating FC from CC which the yellow viewer does not do. Yes, it's just a quick sanity check to see if you have "some" chlorine.

By the way .... welcome to TFP!

Thank you so much, super helpful! Appreciate the insights (and confirming it's not just me that has difficulty :) ) and the warm welcome as well!
