Help me identify equipment please....

Helllo all,

I have been in this house for just under 2 days. I know little or nothing about pools, equipment and maintenance. I have taken some pics to help here.

First off, the pool is right at the rim. I expect this is not a good thing. Is there something that should be regulating this (other than me)? I have a pump from when I owned a hot tub and will pump the water for now.

Secondly, please help me identify the equipment I have and what they all do. The digital nano is showing an error code and flashing "Error Purify Off Check Flow".

1. Your pool level will need to be lowered to 1/3 to 1/2 of the skimmer openings on the pool walls. This will allow floating debris to enter the skimmers and get caught.

2. Photos from left to right:

-Filter (cleans the water)
-Pump (pumps water to/from pool)
-Salt Cell (generates chlorine from the salt in your pool)
-Salt cell control panel (determines when salt cell runs)

The purify off error message is because the salt cell only works while the pump/filter are operating at normal flow rates. Check it again when the pump is on. If it's still not working, you might have a bigger problem.

I recommend you watch some YouTube videos with titles like "pool equipment explained" or "pool equipment basics." It's a lot easier than trying to read posts and pictures. I'd then move on to videos about "how to maintain a pool" so you understand what you need to do on a daily/weekly/yearly basis. Folks here can answer just about any question you have.

Do you know how the pool level got so high? If its just from rain, you need to lower the water level to half way between the top and bottom of the skimmer valve.

If not from rain, check the pool for an autofill. These devices use a float valve to regulate water level. It's common for the float valve to fail which leads to overfilling the pool. You may also find an overflow pipe or grate just under the coping that drains outside the pool area.

There would be one more item to determine. Take a photo of the plumbing but stand behind the bricks on the right side. There are 2 pipes on the ground and it hard to see from the front shot how they connect. I am thinking one may be a drain line but not sure.

Yes - it was just from the rain. I ran a pump to pull out about 3-4 inches of water.

Looks like I have an Intermatic T40004RT3 timer. I have been trying to figure out how to start it manually to get the waterfall and the filter to run. I have read the instructions and fiddled with it, but no luck. I have also looked for videos with this timer and not found much helpful.

Yes, folks here will be happy to answer your questions, but that's not all we do here. And I very much recommend you not roam around on the internet looking for random videos about pool water maintenance. TFP is a teaching website, and we teach a very specific method of pool water maintenance. I strongly suggest you learn what you need here, and here alone, and not try to mix and match instructions from various sources and internet videos.

Man looks like I already have a heater/cooler as well. It's a SunBlazer Model SB128AHDSBLA. Apparently it's a rebadged AquaCal sold by Pinch-a-Penny. This is like opening a pack of cards and getting surprises....

Your VS pump is designed to receive power 24/7. It should not be connected to the timer's load connections. Absent automation, all control is done via the control/display panel on the pump itself. Below, I've linked the manual for your review. Does the pump have power? The display should tell you the status of the pump.

The timer is currently shown in the "on" position in the photo. The silver lever under the dial gives you manual control. We don't know what its currently operating. It could be the SWG or it could be improperly connected to the pump.

Do some experimenting and find out what, if anything, the manual switch controls. Try to power up the SWG while the switch is in the on position.

To operate your waterfall, the pump must be running. You need to experiment with the valves on the return side of the plumbing (same line the SWG cell is connected to) to determine what they control.
