Hi all, I have been suspecting my pool is losing a little too much water.

I haven't got around to doing a proper bucket test because the weather hasn't been cooperative here, but visual inspections in the pool house show some visible leaks.

My plumbing system looks like this,1000009116.jpg

This is the pipe going from the pump to the filter, the leakage is just under the clamp,

and some minor leakage coming from the filter,

My questions are

1) Can I use epoxy putty to fix the pipe leak? Like this one

2) How to address the filter leak

3) My pool guy suggested redoing the entire plumbing because it's quite old. Is this something that needs to be done within the next year or so?

Dont waste your money/time with epoxy. It might help stop a suction leak but you dont have that. Get rid of the flexible PVC and use PVC unions instead of barbed fitting. The filter leak might just be a gasket. Got to open it up and find out.

Thanks, if I understand correctly this is a pressure side leak? What can I do in the short term to fix this?

You can't band-aid a pressure leak. There really isn't a "short term" fix unless you think in terms of what could be minutes. Flex PVC is never supposed to be clamped, it needs to be properly glued just like rigid pipe.
The filter leak is probably the O ring, or both O rings, one at the adapter and one on the valve.
Yes that system should be re-plumbed properly.

Thanks guys for your valuable input. I'm really not confident that I'm handy enough to do this job right (been getting enough anxiety and panic attacks from pool equipments not working right for the past couple weeks, the joy of new ownership), so I will probably get my pool guy to help.

Sorry for the silly question, how can I describe how the desired plumbing system should look like, are there any "magic words" I should say to ensure it's done the right way?

If the pool tech is good, he will know how and do it correctly.
