Betta SE Plus

Thank you, I’ve been on the fence with this as I don’t get much debris other than the thin layer which sits there.
So was I. Think of it as a SWG...you know it WILL fail someday, but the returns during its lifetime are well worth the cost. The difference here is, with the extended warranty, I know I'll get 100% return for at least 3 years.

Just wanted to follow up after only a week of use. This thing is awesome. I wasn't gonna make the purchase as I knew that someday it would fail. That seems to be the fate of all robotic devices thrown into a pool. I changed my mine when I came out in evening and saw all the organic material floating around on the surface.

With energy rates at 60 cents per kwh between 4-9 pm, I just can't allow my pump to run at skim speeds during those hours. Unfortunately, 4 pm is when the afternoon winds start blowing all the organics from the property into the pool. The Betta solves that problem and continues skimming non-stop. The winds that push to the debris to one side of the pool also force the Betta to focus on those areas. The Betta rides the sidewalls and picks up debris that build up on the sides of the pool. Each time I go out to check on the pool, I find it nearly spotless. When I wake at sunrise, Betta is still at work and the pool is spotless.

I've come to accept that someday Betta will fail. But with the 3-year warranty (additional $70), the total cost of the bot is just under $450. Even if it lasts three years, the cost per day is just over 40 cents. Well worth the cost to me. Thanks to @Katodude and @Orion7319 (original Betta owner) for the helpful reviews and updates they provided.

The Betas are the only thing that helps me manage my pine needles. Their customer service and warranty kept me around and led me to recommend them even when the bots would inevitably break down.

Turns out the long term critical path for these might be the batteries. They seem to have done a better job over time on the motors. My last two returns have been about the batteries not running through the night.

After the 3 year warranty is up, you might be able to self service replacing the batteries and get more life out of the unit.

For me they will most likely have a new model by then, and I will want that.

I just ordered a SE Plus because I want to have auxiliary charging for when we have overcast weeks.

I thought I read somewhere in a post weighting the front down a little bit will keep if from losing contents when it reverses. Has anyone tried that? What are you using as weights?

I haven’t had to charge mine yet since getting it. It never stopes running, not once since I got it. Right now this morning the beta 3s one good light is flashing red and it’s dead in the water and the SE plus is just chugging along.
They must have replaced the inner lining of the motors with something more robust other then the thin rubber membrane stuff they were previously using.

while being on the fence about the product and reading about how great it is, I finally purchased it.

Amazon has it for 349.90-70 (coupon) = 279.90

If anyone has been on the fence like me, this might be the right time.

Is that for the SE PLUS? I'm not seeing the coupon, but I do see $349 price. The PLUS has the charging w/adapter option.
Yes, but now looks like the price increased for the plus.

Ordering the se plus from Prime for $332 any tips or tricks for this unit. Rectangular pool with 18 inch deep sun deck

That's as low as I've seen it on Amazon. I don't know how Tom got one for so cheap, but looks like he timed it right. It's $314 on Betta's site now, but I would still buy from Amazon to take advantage of the quick shipping and return policy. For prospective buyers without Prime, Betta's site would be best.

One caveat no option for insurance on Prime

I'm told if purchased from Amazon, one can go back to the Betta site within 30 days and purchase the 3-yr warranty separately. You would register the unit with the serial number. Amazon provides a 30 day free return window. I figured I would try out the unit and if it didn't work out for me I could return it without losing the cost of the warranty.
