Jandy Lite 2 FL4

Hello guys first time posting here, hopefully, to get some help

I have a Jandy Lite 2 pool heater that stopped igniting this weekend. Throwing FL4 code (Hot Surface ignitor problem). Here’s what I’ve found so far

  • I don’t even hear the ignite click when I turn it on before throwing the code.
  • blowing 2A fuses from the control board to the igniter even after I replaced the fuses
  • When I took it out, I measured the ohm on the igniter reading 0.694k ohm no obvious crack on the ignitor.

Do I have a bad control board or Ignitor or something else?

Thanks in advance

Welcome to TFP.
The click comes from the gas valve opening.

  • blowing 2A fuses from the control board to the igniter even after I replaced the fuses

The gas valve may be shorted out.

I suspect the gas valve.

Show us pics of the gas valve in the heater.

@swamprat69 may have ideas.

Lots of corrosion on the gas valve.

Disconnect the wires to the gas valve and see if the fuse blows with the wires disconnected.

If the fuse does not blow test if you have 24V on the wires when the heater starts up.

So I've disconnected two wires on the gas valve and put 2 new fuses and both blew. Does that rule out the gas valve?
Yup, it says your problem is before the gas valve and igniter.

You have to carefully check the wiring to all the safeties on the 24V circuit and see if there is any frayed insulation where a wire is shorting to ground.
