Yeah, I'm still in slam. But I'm getting really frustrated because there's only been one time when the chlorine was at the slam level of 20 but that's it. We've had some rain which I know it would affect things and I also had to add water to my pool once. So it seems like I'm just kind of stuck adding chlorine everyday. And a lot of chlorine. It's just frustrating and I can't help but wonder if there's something else going on or if I'm doing something wrong which I don't think I am. I haven't done the oclt test since we began slam I was under the impression that it didn't need to be done again until your chlorine reached slam - but I could be wrong it's happened before LOL.I didn’t read the entire post, however if you are still in the slam process your FC isn’t at the slam level for CYA.

Yes, I've been following the directions. However, it stormed all day for two days and then I was sick for a day so I only tested once in the three days. So it could be that I just got behind and I'm paying the price for it.Are you following the slam procedures?
It mentions to test and add FC up the slam level 3-4 times a day.
FYI - it was about 3 months ago and he took the pool water to the pool storeYes, I've been following the directions. However, it stormed all day for two days and then I was sick for a day so I only tested once in the three days. So it could be that I just got behind and I'm paying the price for it.
My husband just told me that the last time he took the pool water to a pool store they said we might have some copper . Don't know why he waited till now to tell me but that's how it goes. I read the article on metals, but I didn't see anything about how to treat. Did I miss it?
10-4 - will stay the course.Don't worry about any possible copper in the water right now.
You have one job - keep the chlorine at SLAM Process level for your CYA.
The process works - testing once in 3 days stalled the process out a bit. But it is what it is.
Test the FC - add the amount PoolMath suggests, rinse, repeat.
Not sure what you mean in post #168 by only getting FC to 20 once.
That is your SLAM Process FC level for CYA 50.
If you aren't sure you are attaining FC of 20, test FC 15-20 minutes after adding to be sure.
It is imperative that you get to SLAM level or progress will be delayed.
Stay the course.

Understand. Will stay the course. We have city water (I'm pretty sure). Before I fired my husband from pool duty, he would shock the pool more often than I thought was good. Since I took over the pool, nothing's been added except for things like baking soda, muriatic acid, chlorine, things that were recommended. The pool wasn't kept up very well last year so we're probably starting behind the ball. I wasn't around much Last summer and Sam isn't real consistent with things like this - he owns a business and he just works all the time. So that's probably part of the problem- just trying to make up for the lack of good maintenance. If it’s copper, the only way to remove is to do a drain. I am not sure what your fill water is or what you have added.
There’s sequestrates to help prevent staining.
Here’s further info and tests to do as well,
