Another question still..anyone??

OK I just did a complete test. I’m on my phone so I can’t see how to attach it but can’t you click on my name and view it?

A couple of notes on it. Ignore the one that said 606 alkalinity obviously. My fat finger hit the six by mistake and it should only be 60.

Also I stayed at a friends last night and I’m just now getting back to the pool so my chlorine is very low for the slam but I have added what I needed to get it back up

Well here we are over halfway into the second week and zero change. Nada. Zip. Nothing. All test results are in normal range.
Water is still cloudy with no improvement.

I’m obviously not going to be using this brand new pool this year and I’m very close to calling it after about a dozen gallons of chlorine. My brain just cannot fathom continuing to pour money into a pool I can’t use. This algae is obviously of the supernatural variety and cannot be killed by human means alone.

My overnight chlorine loss test last night actually showed a gain in chlorine by three ppm. I’m assuming that’s not possible and that I was likely just tired last night and miscounted how many drops of the reagent I added

Also I am now noticing some small brown smudges on the side of my skimmer that look like dirt, but when I touch it, it feels sort of thick and with a greasy residue. Perhaps that is what is making the water cloudy?
Anyone lnow what that is?

Testing error. Use a 10mL sample of water for your testing. Each drop is .5 FC.

Not likely making your water cloudy. Use a bit of 10:1 Water:bleach solution and scrub it off...likely just residual body oils and sunscreen.

There is only been one time anybody has been in the pool and there was no sunscreen and use. Actually the one occasion of pool use is what started this whole fiasco. It was relatively clean for the week prior to that

What are you using for your SLAM target?
How often are you scrubbing?
How often are you testing and replacing FC?
How often are you backwashing your filter?
When do you backwash your filter? (How do you decide to backwash?)

I have answered these questions already, but here I go again

20ppm free chlorine is my slam per my logs
I just mentioned that I am not physically getting in the pool with this high of chlorine so I am only scrubbing what I can reach. Sorry not getting in a pool of bleach water
Again, I am testing and adding chlorine every two hours as long as I am at home or awake. This one has been answered probably half a dozen times already
I am backwashing the filter every couple of days. Again as I have mentioned previously I don’t think the pressure gauge works as it never changes so I am just taking it upon myself to do it every couple of days

I definitely appreciate your help, but I would also appreciate it if you would go back and read previous comments instead of asking me to retype all of this again.

The active chlorine level in your pool is less than the water from a hose of a city water supply. If you're on city water then a bath is more "bleach water" than your pool.
Its at slam levels (20ppm) It has a strong odor and has bleached out eveything it has touched.
That’s a bit more than my bathwater lol. Ima pass 😉

Backwash your filter twice a day, doesn't need to be long backwashes, but you need to get the stuff out of the filter. I would consider replacing the pressure gauge. The comment on reading previous posts, is maybe fair, but there are 5 pages worth of reading.

As to the level of chlorine and safety, the EPA allows up to 4ppm in drinking water. Drinking water has 0 CYA, so the amount of HOCl in drinking water. That is the equivalent to 5ppm of FC in a pool with no CYA.

With CYA of 50, and FC of 20, the HOCL level is .7ppm HOCL. There is less HOCL in your pool at CYA 50 and FC 20, than your drinking water by a factor of about 5-7x less.

In either case, you need to figure out a way to scrub everything.

Scrubbing and backwashing are the best next steps.

SLAM Level does not have a strong odor and bleach out everything it touches...

You're doing something very very wrong if that's the case.
Well I have followed every direction to the tee and this is what I have.
I’d be happy to send you a picture of the shirt that I ruined two days ago when some of the pool water splashed up on it.
