Which SWG For My Pool

I’ve had a pool at my house for the last 16 years. I maintain it myself with liquid chlorine, acid and 3” pucks in a floater. A couple years ago I had a local pool guy install an automated system so I can control everything on my IPhone. He installed the Aqualink RS and I’ve been very happy with it. It does not have a SWG.

With the price and headache of buying chlorine I’m thinking about installing a SWG. I contacted the same pool guy that installed the Aqualink and asked him about SWG’s. He recommended the Jandy TruClear and said he’s had good luck with them. He wants $1800 to buy, install and get it up and running.

When I look online the Jandy TruClear is $1,100 on Amazon. I’d like to do the install myself and save the $700.

What’s everyone think? Is the install fairly straightforward? What’s the thought on the Jandy TruClear?

Better off to get a Jandy Aquapure. You do not show your pool volume but likely need the 1400.

I’m not sure of the pool volume, but it’s in ground and probably 20,000 gallons.

I’m not liking the info on the TruClear that you posted. Is it not a good unit?

I’m also not liking the $750ish to replace the salt cell on the Aquapure. That’s one thing that was attractive about the TruClear.

Yes. It will wire into a RS485 connection so it will be fully accessible via your automation.

Correct. He also needs the APUREM power center.

FYI: The TruClear is around 1/2 the cost of the AquaPure. Consumables are also 1/2 the cost. Both systems can be controlled by aqualink. The TruClear isn't as reliable a system and doesn't produce as much chlorine as the AquaPure. But it is cheaper.

I installed a TruClear on my own it is not hard but requires plumbing and electrical skills. Same with the AquaPure. The unit is around $1100-$1300 so that's $500-$700 for installation which is not horrible. Probably around 3 hours of work.

AquaPure will probably run over $3k installed.
