All,
Medicall issue, had to resort to Tabs for almost a year - Emplty pool last weekend to drop CYA, worked 50 (ignore FC and CH-got that working very well). Problem is my TA is 170 and my PH is skyrocketing because of it, am dropping in 8 cups of Muratic Acid everyother day TA only dropping 10, PH climbs right back up to 8.3-4, which I would expect.
Any thoughts on dropping the TA easier than what I am doing?

any and all feed back welcomed, and thanks in advance for your consideration - Ellie, Houston, TX

Apologies, tried the standard lower TA with lower PH then ariate, BUT, not 6-8 hours later, PH jumps right back up to 8.3-4, so add another 8 cups, and try again.... is this what it means? could take days, weeks, months?

You have to create a means to aerate the water vigorously if yo wish to speed up the process.

Why are you in a hurry?

Here is the trick with lowering TA.
1) Cycle your pH between 7.0 and 7.4. CO2 outgasses at the highest rate with this pH.
2) Make LOTS of VERY TINY bubbles.

I made this rig out of 1.5" PVC. 6-8 1/4" holes in the caps. Screw it on top of a sump pump, put it in a pail to protect pool surface and put it in pool and turn on.

I can lower TA by 10 in 12 hours, in a 30K pool. In a 10K pool like your, it will likely only take 4 hours.

The rapid pH rise is actually an advantage, since it lets you add MA more frequently. Every time you add 8 cups, your TA drops by 10 -- so just keep doing what you're doing.

appreciate it. not my first rodeo, but man I have never had such a high TA. The instructions are good, but I was not putting the time frame in reality, thought without the air would only take a few days as well, so when the other gentleman pointed out days, weeks, months.... I finally understood.... and I can still swim (if PH is withing range) and it won't eat my plaster.... thank you for all you feedback and your lesson learned, much appreciated.

To All of You'all,
2 weeks to the day and numbers are perfect for 4 days - TA over 200, down to 90, PH stable at 7.6. It was the time issue, air or no air, it takes time. I need to learn patience... thank you again for all the input and teach this old dog more tickerts. Happy 4th.
