Unfortunately, I neglected the pool and allowed mustard algae to enter the equation. I have completed the slam process. I just want to make sure that I’m doing the correct next step. The article says to raise the chlorine level to mustard algae levels for 24 hours. I will post my current numbers and see if folks agree with my plan.

I plan to raise the FC to 18 based on pool math and keep it there for 24 hours. Also plan on putting everything in pool to soak at this level and brush brush brush. I use a Taylor test kit and I plan on maintaining the chlorine 18 for 24 hours. In the other advice, am I off anywhere?
 
Your CYA is 30. You round up as there is no way to interpolate the CYA scale.

Once you complete the MA shock for 24 hours, maintain the MA Target levels of 15-20% of CYA for several weeks.

Quick follow-up question. I have maintained the free chlorine at 18 above for actually 36 hours. Not calcium level was at 50 so I had some old cal hypo that I used. I’ve brushed a bunch but I have one follow-up question. Attached is a picture of the sediment that’s all over the bottom of the pool floor. Just look like dead, algae or cal hypo that didn’t dissolve. I don’t think it’s the hypo because this picture is from the shallow Inn. This has been happening throughout the process. I brushed and even vacuumed it out but it seems to come back. I am gonna do a good vacuum today and brush, but would you be concerned that I’m still killing algae? FYI, I passed an overnight chlorine test last night.

Dang it. I need to read closer. Thanks. Last time I did the slam I didn’t read the part about taking them chlorine up to mustard alage level for 24 hours. Last question I promise as I really appreciate your help. I’m gonna vacuum the pool real good today to get that sediment out of there and keep up the chlorine levels until this stuff goes away. No need to vacuum that stuff on waste is it? Really don’t wanna lose that much water. I’ve got a skimmer sock in there, trying to catch the finer stuff.

Quick follow up. I started over with the slam keeping my FC level at 16. I had bumped CYA up to 40 because pool has no shade. I kept it at 16 for seven straight days. Brushing every day and then vacuum up the dead particles the next day. My order is Crystal clear, I passed the overnight chlorine test, CC 0. The only criteria is I still have the sediment on the bottom. Vacuum it out in the evening and the next morning it spread all throughout the pool picture attached. My question is do I just keep going until I can get all of that stuff out of the pool or could there be any other problem causing this stuff to get back into the pool? Sand filter was changed two years ago. I don’t mind keep going, but I felt like I’ve made little progress over seven days. I just wanted to see if it could be anything else. Picture attached. Thanks in advance.

If you are passing multiple OCLT and water is crystal clear, then you have a filtering issue.
You have a sand filter. When was it last deep cleaned?
 
I know this is dumb but I don’t know the size. Attached is picture. I haven’t deep cleaned in two years since sand was replaced. Another kind of odd thing that still leaves me to believe I got an allergy problem is when I walk on the pool floor. It’s still a little bit slippery. I brushed and brushed and brushed so I don’t know if I got multiple issues going on.
