Scheduling SuperFlo VST speed with IntelliCenter

I finally got a variable-speed pump, the SuperFlo VST. My installer just added the communication cable today, and while I can adjust pump speed in the IntelliCenter app (the new Pentair Home one), it seemingly does not let me schedule pump speed! Scheduling in the app only allows me to designate one-time vs. weekly, choose the circuit (I have only two, pool and light), what to do with the heater, days to run, and start and stop time. No pump speed! Am I missing something? Thanks!

  • Create a Feature Circuit
  • Assign a pump speed greater then your filter pump speed to the Feature Circuit
  • Schedule the Feature Circuit for when you want the pump at that speed.

OK, something isn't working. Pump is set on 1850 RPM from 8 am-7 pm and 8 pm-7 am and going up to 2500 RPM from 7-8 (AM & PM). Today at 7 am, instead of going to 2500, the pump turned off, but the app shows that the schedule is running. Screenshots below (main screen showing the schedule running, list of schedules, the feature circuit, and the pump). What am I missing?

Set your pool circuit schedule to run 24/7 (7am/7am) and schedule the 2500 RPM skimming over the top. Higher RPM circuit runs when simultaneous circuits are scheduled/selected.

Not sure why it is doing that, as the Skim circuit associated with the pump, should turn on the pump when it is scheduled. May have to do with the pool circuit not be energized, but I don't think it should be like that.

Also, settings for "auto adjust for DST" and "auto" clock source don't stick. I presume this is just the buggy nature of the software?
What FW version are you running in the IntelliCenter? I have reverted to 1.064 because the newest ones are too quirky. 1.064 does not seem to have issues with those settings holding.

At 8 am, the pump kicked back on as scheduled and went to 1850 after the prime. Interestingly, it primed for 5 minutes (pump default) rather than the 3 minutes I had set in the app.

Put the IntelliCenter in SERVICE mode and change the pump priming time.

VS pumps like the Pentair IntelliFlo have their own internal priming cycle. The pump can sense when it is primed and stop the priming cycle. The pump control panel has priming settings.

Pentair automation like the EasyTouch and IntelliCenter also have priming settings.

With the Pentair IntelliFlo VS pump having priming settings, and the ET or IntelliCenter having priming settings, neither one overrides the other. They both run, first the pump's internal prime routine, then the ET's or IntelliCenter. Unless the user is smart enough to change that.

The shortest time the ET or IntelliCenter prime can run is 1 minute, and it doesn't know whether the pump is primed or not; it just runs for the specified time. On the other hand, the pump itself can realize it's primed in 3 seconds. You can set the prime time on the ET to 0 minutes and the pump will no longer noisily and unnecessarily prime for a minute
