What you are seeing is how we got it (ignore the green water). It is my understanding that while possible to repair, it's not recommended.

All signs point to that toggle-switch cover housing the Light Controller, but we have yet to break the lock.

I can see that the forum is recommending Sun-Seeker lights, but I am not too sure what options I should be selecting on this unit. It would help if I could identify what I have now, but there are few markings.

Come time to install the new unit, how will I know if the conduit has collapsed? What are my options if that is the case?

Your light looks like a PacFab Hatteras. I replaced one of mine last year with a standard Pentair Amerilite. Was relatively straightforward and fit perfectly in the niche.

Why are pool lights so expensive? :( Why can't they go down in price like TV's or computers.
Pool = luxury item. Pool light = accessory to luxury item. Pool light = 120v in the water with your family. Pool light = U.L. and CSA tested and approved sticker (on this continent at least). U.L. and CSA tested and approved sticker = payment for each sticker and continuing approval.
