I saw an old post in 2019 by @itscool I was curious how using the UV Protectant worked for the rim of the above ground pool. I am dealing with that exact issue, but afraid to use anything that may harm it. As "itscool" did, i google rim protector and found not a lot of advise on it.
The sun is brutal here in Southern Nevada during the summer. Anyone try anything and want to provide experience from what you have tried. I would really appreciate it.

Good morning! Just wanted to comment that your pool is beautifully clear! 😉

I know your pain when it comes to the summer sun. Unfortunately I don’t have any insight for you - I never used anything on my Intex. Are you seeing any fraying? How old is your pool?

I wonder if there's some type of foam you could attach to the top rail? I think of the round insulation foam we use on plumbing pipes. Some people use pool noodles for creative/odd things. I wonder if there's something similar you could use during the peak hot times from say May - Sept that would help take the UV "sting" off of those rails. Otherwise, maybe just a good UV protection paint application?

I made a similar post earlier this year and have been going in circles on this. I went to a larger Intex pool this year and my older one which had been up for about 4 years was showing wear on the upper rim. Recently found this:

I was also looking at this and wondering how the 2.5" might cover the 2.25" tubes

Thanks CT Steven, I am going to try the life extender and will let you know how it works. This is my third year of having the pool up and I see some slight crack lines that I am not sure go all the way through but thought better do something now before it completely fails.
