Hi everyone,

We are in the middle of a pool project in our yard and I have a few questions.

Pool project:

38x26 concrete pool
Grotto with 6ft concrete rock walls, slide and waterfall
8x8 hot tub with large spillover
10x7 tanning ledge
3 variable pumps, pentair
Propane heater, pentair
Heat pump, pentair
Salt

Travertine tumbled coping
Stonescapes midnight blue mini pebble

Few questions:

Is tumbled travertine slippery?

What is the best fencing to put around the pool equipment? It's on the side of my rv pad on the other side of the house

Does midnight blue mini pebble make the pool get too warm?

Welcome to TFP and nice pool design.

Ensure any type of fence is not too close to the equipment or you will find it hard to clean filter, empty pump basket, etc.
Shade is always the best to have over equipment to protect it from UV. It can be a shade tarp connected to poles in ground.

Do you need fencing to block equipment from neighbors or is it needed for sound barrier?
Some have 4ft wood fences to block view from pool or patio area, others have shown it to be 6ft to block from street side viewing. In SD you do not need protection from winter.

You mean IntelliCenter, surely?

Compared to what - bananas? 😄
Most anything that is not broomed, exposed aggregate or polycoated concrete is going to be slippery by comparison. That said, we did travertine and we do not walk on it any differently and have never felt it was slippery. It's natural and pitted and that helps a lot.

We do almost exclusively block walls in our area. They are excellent and last forever with no maintenance.

You aren't likely to notice the impact, if it has one. Darker colors do absord more energy but there are so many other factors that determine how much net impact that actually has. I would choose the color I want. It's a massive concrete hole you are never going to remove - make sure you enjoy looking at it.
Good looking pool. Love the palms. Jealous I can't grow more feather palms in my area. Heaven knows I try.

thanks for the responses everyone, still trying to figure out the last few pieces of the build.

Have been wondering about needing a railing or not, my rock guy can sculpt one out of concrete that looks like wood but only 2 steps will be out of the water before there is rockwork on both sides so trying to figure out if one is really needed, going back and forth on it. He is going to sculpt hand holds on the rock wall on the right of the stairs.

How will they be finishing the chute on the slide? I've had lots of issues with mine. They tried many different coatings but eventually ended up removing the finish and polishing the gunite/concrete.

Is the company R.I.P doing your work?

Check out my post here. It explains how my slide was finally fixed.
