I just had a new liner installed, as a matter of fact they are not even finished yet! Still putting water in and they still need to cut out light, skimmers etc. I have a SWCG ordered that is to be here Tuesday. Unfortunately I will not be able to install that for another week. But I know I need to get the water balanced before I head out of town for a week on Wednesday. So far it has been 24 hours and the pool is about half full.

Can I just put some chlorine pucks in my chlorinator and turn it on? Will that raise the CYA enough to keep the FC high enough for now? Or should I have find some CYA stabilizer and add it to the pool along with liquid chlorine before I leave town?
I know I will need salt once I get the SWCG installed and running but in the meantime I have limited options. My neighbor pool lady is also out of town for another week! She usually checks the pool and would add chlorine daily for me. But that is not an option for now.

Should I start with adjusting the TA or PH first?
Thanks!
Our old liner was installed in 2007 according to the previous owner. It was previously a very dark blue but was closer to white when we removed it. We went with a dark blue from Branded pool liners.

Find some Stabilizer and liquid chlorine. Raise FC to SLAM level before you go out of town. How long will you be gone?

If TA is below 50, then bring the TA up to 50-60 using baking soda and THEN raise your pH to around 7.4 using 20 Mule Team Borax.

If your TA is above 50, just manage pH and leave TA alone.

I will be leaving Wednesday noonish and returning very late Monday night. I just hope my slow water hose has this thing filled before I leave town on Wednesday!! The installer was here about an hour ago and said I should be full in another 24 hours! Cannot wait to see this water bill!!

I have 2# of stabilizer, that might get my CYA to 15. Could I fill my chlorinator with my stabilized pucks, crank the out put to its highest setting, add a gallon of liquid chlorine to the pool and most likely come home to fairly clear water? I know there are lots of variables to that, how much sun will there be, how much rain, any storms and so forth. I also know I will have to fine tune CYA, FC, TA and PH as well as CH. For now I am just trying to stay clear until I get back. No one will be in the pool.
