What did you do to your pool today?

Just added a little chlorine and watched the Betta do the hard work. Best part of not having to close for the winter here. Water temp sitting at 70 degrees. Time to swim soon with these couple of 90 degree days.

Confirmed the ProTuff adapter piece fit

20240412_160534.jpg

I texted them Sunday night and on Monday they asked for a pic of the pole for proof I owned one. I sent the pic after work Monday evening, they sent it out on Tues and the piece came on Friday

10/10 Will recommend their customer service.

*Edit. I just checked the package and they are 50 mins away from me. USPS gets 5/10 for taking 2.5 days to go 45 miles. Amazon through the same USPS would have taken 10 hours. :ROFLMAO:

I fully opened my pool today by removing the safety cover. I hand vacuumed the pool. I needed to backflush halfway through. I scrubbed the sides, especially the waterline where a thick layer of pollen was stuck to the surface.

I went out a few minutes ago and not hear the heater running. I checked the pump. Water was barely trickling in. I checked the skimmers. The hairnets were caked in pollen, preventing water from going through the basket. I don't have a main bottom drain. To prevent a reaccurance, I'll leave the hairnets out until the pool is completely clean and I'm sure pollen season is over.

Yea I have a love hate relationship with hairnets/skimmer socks - I have to be careful during heavy debris times or they clog too quickly & break my skimmer basket!
Maybe go with just adding a little de to help catch the pollen but keep things to a manageable schedule.

Currently mustering up the strength to clean the deck in preparation for recoating it with ready seal before the cover comes off & the AA treatment ensues.
I am quite exhausted from pressure washing almost everything else in my life - patio & furniture, carport, grill, all sidewalks but the very front, gutters etc. I am worried if I don’t do it this evening I won’t be able to move tomorrow & it definitely won’t get done 🤣 its gotten pretty black in some places so I gotta hit it with a weak bleach mix & give it a good rinsearoo before recoating.
Spring is both beautiful & disgusting 😆

Heated my pool up today so I could get into it. I decided to finally change my Globrites over to Microbrites. All 4 had failed about mid last year. The spa Globrite light would still work if you would heat the spa up. I also added a second lighting transformer so I can run the spa and pool lights separately. Not sure why I would ever need that but it was a minor cost compared to the 4 Microbrites.

Looking better already! Motivation to keep going! Gonna have to dig into my leftover pool bleach supply to finish the job.
No wonder we were getting black feet last year!
Ignore my 1/2 purple 1/2 brown chairs 🤪
Looking good!

I'm glad you said something about the chairs. I sat there and stared at them for a good 2 minutes trying to figure out what happened to them. :ROFLMAO:

They were painted purple by the previous owner- I painted them brown when i got them 2 or 3 years ago. Its time for a new coat or possibly new chairs that are already brown 😉

Mr. Gas Heater has the water temperature up to 86F. Wife is happy. She is in the pool for the first time this year.

Tested the water. When the water turned red on the third drop for the TA test, I thought to myself that really came out low. That was until I realized I only used 10 ml of water. I'm not quite in auto mode yet this season on testing.

Yesterday I installed the replacement CircuPool controller that was covered under warranty. I had the FC level at 5 when I installed the new controller. Today I tested and my FC was at 9. I had set my controller at 37% output. I need to turn down the chlorine output! SWG is the only way to go. I was adding a quart and a half every day to maintain FC.

Today, we swam...

And yes, those are bags of salt holding the new-to-us steps down...

Just a hint with the salt weights: Pool salt can have iron contaminations. Usually they dilute quickly into the water without creating issues. But when left for longer in one spot it may create staining.

The unopened bags are sat on top of the floaty-plastic steps, which I picked up for about $200. The steps had spent probably the last 5 years or more outside in the elements, so we broke them down into the individual pieces, scrubbed them all with bleach, reassembled and then slid into the pool.

Of course they needed more weight than I had on-hand and I have some more 'proper' weights coming, I just needed some extra weight until those arrive. The unopened bags of salt were the most pool-friendly thing I had ;)

Finally got all the salt in & mixed up to 3000ppm.
The pool has passed essentially 7 oclts - the fc has not changed since it was first tested April 8 so I am embarking on my ocgt - sorta.
Just running 3 hours at 100% to see where I end up compared to poolmath since I really don’t need more fc but the pool being covered is the best time to do it.
So far the cell seems to be happily producing although it’s currently showing old numbers. Gonna check the readings again a little before my 3 hours is up.
I have decided against doing the AA treatment for logistical reasons (catkins, temp, no/low fc scares me 😱)
and intend to try just adding an initial dose of proteam metal magic once I finally uncover the pool since my staining is considered “light”.

Bought a Betta (named Betty - so original!) because the pollen load has been so bad it clogs my skimmer and impedes flow. Hoping to keep the stuff out of skimmer and off pool floor so I don’t have to run robot Daniel as often. She zips around happily, so fun to watch. Wish she’d clean my house too.

Disconnected salt cell to see if I have much scaling - none, yay!

And discovered strap wrenches, which are a game changer when trying to loosen large threaded connections.

I ordered a new basket for my robot because like a dummy, I left the other one sit outside all winter and it cracked. Tried to super glue it but no such luck.
Oh and I renewed my TFP gold supporter donation status. Does that count?!

Other than that, I just stare at my cold, covered, pool and watch my dog use the cover as a trampoline.
