Yea I have a love hate relationship with hairnets/skimmer socks - I have to be careful during heavy debris times or they clog too quickly & break my skimmer basket!I fully opened my pool today by removing the safety cover. I hand vacuumed the pool. I needed to backflush halfway through. I scrubbed the sides, especially the waterline where a thick layer of pollen was stuck to the surface.
I went out a few minutes ago and not hear the heater running. I checked the pump. Water was barely trickling in. I checked the skimmers. The hairnets were caked in pollen, preventing water from going through the basket. I don't have a main bottom drain. To prevent a reaccurance, I'll leave the hairnets out until the pool is completely clean and I'm sure pollen season is over.

Looking better already! Motivation to keep going! Gonna have to dig into my leftover pool bleach supply to finish the job.
No wonder we were getting black feet last year!
Ignore my 1/2 purple 1/2 brown chairs
They were painted purple by the previous owner- I painted them brown when i got them 2 or 3 years ago. Its time for a new coat or possibly new chairs that are already brownLooking good!
I'm glad you said something about the chairs. I sat there and stared at them for a good 2 minutes trying to figure out what happened to them.

And yes, those are bags of salt holding the new-to-us steps down...
The unopened bags are sat on top of the floaty-plastic steps, which I picked up for about $200. The steps had spent probably the last 5 years or more outside in the elements, so we broke them down into the individual pieces, scrubbed them all with bleach, reassembled and then slid into the pool.Just a hint with the salt weights: Pool salt can have iron contaminations. Usually they dilute quickly into the water without creating issues. But when left for longer in one spot it may create staining.
