Chemical levels for new plaster pool

Leave your TA and pH as is.

Your constant lowering of pH to 7.2 is lowering your TA. Let your pH ride in the 7.8 range.

If you add baking soda you will put yourself on the pH and TA yo-yo chasing it up and down.

See post #43.

Looking back at PoolMath logs, I did FC test at 3:20pm and got 0, water didn't turn yellow. Added Clorox bleach 1Gal at 3:55pm, retested at 4:17 and got FC 2.5. Another test at 7:57 and it read FC is 3.5.
pH stable around 7.5.
Be careful of the clorox bleach. It almost always has soap, fabric softeners, and perfume in it. Pools dont like that stuff. If it says “chloromax” that means its no good for the pool.

yes, I'm keeping that as my target in PoolMath. It's just that last night numbers were off probably because of drop in TA and MA qty was bit much.

Always test TA before you calculate any MA addition.

Day 9 (Clouds/Rain)-
8:00am - FC 4.0, pH 7.2, TA 50
Noon - FC 3.5, pH 7.8

TA is up by 10 compared to yesterday on its own, why would that be the case? pH yesterday stayed at good level, only had to add 7.2oz MA toward the late evening.
No chemicals added so far today.

I'm not seeing plaster dust when brushing, mostly settled dirt coming off the surface, will switch to once a day brush from tomorrow (day 10).

I love my big Oaks on the property but catkins are killing me. Last couple of days has been crazy.

TA and pH drift and rise naturally. Let them do their thing and don't try and force a number.

What was your pH before you added the 7.2oz of MA?

Day 10 -
FC 3.0, pH 7.8, TA 70, CH 225

TA and CH both drifted up from recent days. CH has been steady at 200 since I added the calcium.
You don’t need to keep checking the ch as frequently as the fc ph & ta - its not going to change much unless you do something to change it (add calcium, replace water)

Do you have the

Are you testing CH with a 10ML or 25ML sample?
