I feel like this question must have been covered before, but I'm not finding an answer very quickly.

I test and top off my chlorine each morning to the highest end (8 ppm) of TFP's recommendation for my current CYA level (50). As expected, FC drops 2-4 ppm each day — it dips out of TFP's ideal range (6–8), but not below TFP's minimum (4).

Would it be a good/bad/indifferent idea to overdose my chlorine by a ppm or two to ensure it stays in the ideal range 24 hours a day?

You can run however you wish and clearly you have the basics down. Forsee a 3(?) ppm loss and dose so that you don't fall below min. But the closer you land to min, the closer you need to pay attention. By dosing over target, and falling back into target, those of us that do still have a reserve left if we are too exhausted when we get home from being a child Uber every evening. It can wait until the next morning or even the next night if there was enough wiggle room.

It's a moving target. 8ppm might be a 2 day supply right now before daily demand spikes, and it might barely be a 1 day supply when you're losing 4+ in July.

Know your recent daily loss and plan accordingly if you know you're free, or not free later.

I'm not free later ALOT. Lol.

I too run a child transportation service, exclusive to two demanding clients, and frequently don't feel like doing much after I've fed them their complimentary dinner each night. Also, despite doing the job for well over a decade now, they've never paid a single invoice. Saying it out loud, it's starting to seem like this might not have been my best business decision.
