Hayward H400FDN - Blank Screen Fix

The H400FDN heat sensor sparked while reassembling (fixed a manafold leak). As a result, the control panel went blank.



It appears a surge blew the purple 3A fuse on the main panel. Fortunately, there was a spare fuse in a little baggie on the left side that also contained a wiring diagram. I replaced the fuse and the heater fired up. SUCCESS

Lessons learned: Disconnect power before unscrewing heater. Check fuses if the control panel is blank.

They knew you might need that fuse when they put it in the bag.

I suggest you replace the spare fuse in the bag for the next time.

Excellent suggestion, I'll get a new fuse ordered and add it back to the baggie for next time.

Even better, put two or more fuses in the bag.
