Hi spyderman. I have had a salt water pool for 18 years. Great not have to deal with chlorine. If you store chlorine for later use, it will corrode everything metal near it.
If money is not an issue find a reputable local pool company to take care of the pool for you.
If you are a DIY person then TFP is a great place to learn about pools and pool maintenance. I take care of most of my pool maintenance and equipment repair.
My salt system includes a salt cell and a compter module. Local pool retailers want $500 to $800 for the salt cell and $500 to install. They want $800 to $1000 for the computer module and $800 to install.
I have found the salt cell and computer module on line for a low as $150 each. I do the replacement myself.
Replacing the hardware is not rocket science. Google it.
Good luck with your pool and remember to Enjoy It!

The key to having a saltwater pool is to optimize your pump runtime and saltwater chlorine generator (SWCG) output to produce the desired amount of chlorine measured as free chlorine (FC).
The PoolMath app is a great tool to track test results, determine chemical additions to pool and to set up the SWCG for proper FC output. For $8 a year it is a valuable resource to pool care.
You will need to have some Muractic acid on hand to help control pH. Ensure that is stored outside in a pool box or similar where kids cannot get access. You also may need some pool salt from time to time. Both of these items can be purchased at Walmart, Home Depot, etc.
You won’t need much other chemicals and do not fall into the trap of taking your pool water sample to a pool store for testing as they will try to sell you many unnecessary chemicals.
