So my pool was finished at the end of the summer, and I had my water chemistry down. We had a water leak, and the pool linear had to be replaced. I just refilled the pool with water, and I need to have to pool builder come out and add my salt, and any additional chemicals. I know that in the winter, the salt generator will not produce chlorine, and I will need to use chlorine tabs. I guess my question is, should I add the salt now, and then add chlorine tabs, or have the pool place give me the salt and store it for the winter, and add it in the spring, since the chlorine generator is not going to be creating chlorine at this time. Should I go ahead an balance everything at this point? I plan to leave the pool open this winter. I live in North East Georgia, and have the freeze protection set at 36. Been fighting leaves, but i think most have now dropped from the trees.
Pool is 12x24, 1 skimmer, and 4 returns. I calculated it out to around 10,500 gallons. I have a Handy SWG, and a sand filter, with a V270 Century Pump.
