After Labor day we start the dig for 13x31 fiberglass pool. 5' flat depth with tanning ledge, salt water, Rheem heat pump heater, auto cover, Jandy pump & cartridge filter, Polaris auto cleaner
It will look like this one

will post pics of the hole next week along with placing the fiberglass pool

Since we might be swimming in 4 weeks, I was surfing for a test kit. Looking at TF-100 salt kit or TF-pro salt kit with mag stir. I see the mag stir is on back order. Is a mag stir really a big deal to have? Also thinking of getting a PH meter, again is that useful or just use the test kit reagents?

jd,

Use it one time, and it will become a big deal...

It makes all the tests easier and almost fun.. I can't swirl and count at the same time. :)

For an accurate salt test, it is almost a requirement.

I'd get the TF-Pro Salt, as it has a much, much better case.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thanks JimR
I ordered the TF-Pro salt yesterday. Got the Pool Math program downloaded on my computer and played around with it a little. Reading all the threads of people who have problems with their water chemistry, I'm a little goosey about testing and keeping the water just right, so it should be interesting. But hey. . .I'm an engineer, I should be able to figure it out. . . right? Just remember the 3 B's !!

It's real simple. Less is more. Except chlorine. That's more (chlorine) is less (headaches).

Avoid any and all pool store potions. Don't be fooled by Walmart either as most of the aisle is 5 in 1 this or that, ironically going 0 for 5. Lol. If it has 'blue' written anywhere on the package, put it back. It's laced with copper.

Chlorine and muriatic acid is all most need, once balanced. We'll help at every step. :)

The project looks great! I like the vibe. Straightforward pool with some nice add-ons (heat pump and autocover).

I'll save you a headache or two going forward. Don't worry about getting the water just right, close enough is close enough. It's a mindset really.

I love seeing pools hanging from a crane - I know, I’m weird. LOL

Where is @kimkats? It isn’t too soon to accessorize!

Take plenty of pictures of all of those pipes. use something for scale, such as a yardstick, or a tape measure with visible numbers, off of a monument ( something fixed that will be there forever, such as the corner of the building)
