Hi all, getting an error message that there is an “invalid cell”. I took the SWG out and cleaned it, reinstalled and restarted the pump. Still getting the message. This is a new SWG just about 1 year. Do I need to “reset the cell” from the board after cleaning? Could that be why I’m getting the error? Appreciate your thoughts!

I have seen comments that Hayward is chipping their new SWG systems to prevent clone cells being used.
I suggest you call Hayward as their new system may have some glitches.

Looks like they are chipping the cells to prevent aftermarket cells from being used.
Try unplugging the cell and check the plug connections.
Reinstall the plug and then see if it works.
If not file a warranty claim.

I think that the yellow and orange wires go to the chip.
Measure the resistance between the pins #7 and #8.

Had the pool co out, they said Hayward said this would happen without a firmware update, despite that the cell continued to say Invalid Cell. He reset the breaker to the panel and the notification went away and it all looks to be as it was, displaying the chlorination percentage, etc. However, since this is a new cell (1 year old) they are going to be replacing it with the warranty. That was a few days ago and it is still showing as functioning i.e. the display is working. I can feel the cell and tell water is going through it but I don't know if it is working properly. I will test my water and see how much, if any, my chlorine has dropped. I appreciate your help with this!
