Been advised by Leslie's to partially drain water due to high TDS. My question is can we still swim with these results below
free chlorine 0.45
total chlorine 3.97
ph 8.2
total alkalinity 89
calcium hardness 479
iron 0
copper 0.2
phospates 172
TDS 2800
Thank you

A,

You have some serious issues and it has nothing to do with TDS..

Your FC is basically zero
Your TC is way, way too high

This indicates a pretty unsanitary pool.

What is your CYA (Stabilizer) level???

You need to get some liquid chlorine in there today.

How big is your pool in gallons?

Is your pool green or cloudy??

Thanks,

Jim R.

To answer your question about swimming in it, I personally would not yet, not until you get some liquid chlorine in there. Your free chlorine is way too low and the combined chlorine is way too high at 3.52. I assume these test results are from a pool company? If so, get your own test kit…either a TF-Pro or T-2006C. I prefer the TF-Pro personally because it comes with a SmartStir which saves you time and is more accurate.

Until you get your kit, add 5ppm liquid chlorine daily which, for your size pool, is 80oz of 10% LC or 64oz of LC. When your kit arrives, run all of the tests and post them on this thread. You may have to SLAM your pool (video was tagged above by James).

The pros here, myself not quite there, will help you resolve this issue. I’ve read so much on this site and have received a lot of help and feedback. Trust the process.
