Hello, I am new to the site and to pools in general. White plaster was completed Friday, pool was filled Friday evening. Saturday water was perfect clear blue as expected. Saturday evening contractor added a temporary over the deck filter system and mentioned adding acid, I did not see what he added. I checked it out as soon as he left and the water is now clear green/turquoise. I understand this is probably bc the pool water truck filled our pool with well water, in addition to my own well water from the hose. My concern is my contractor doesn't answer any question I ask, and I am not sure when they will be back to monitor the water, I do not want to risk damage to our new plaster. Should I be doing something now, or waiting for them to figure it out/finish starting the pool? I ordered a Taylor 2006 kit, it hasn't arrived yet. I did take water to the local pool supply store today to get a general idea of where I stand. Also, is it normal for white plaster to have what looks like some aggregate it in, almost like a Diamond Brite finish? I have been brushing the pool. Thank you in advance.

Do not wait. You have two options:

1 - Get some polyfill and place it in the skimmer(s). In addition, Also set up an additional DIY water filter with more polyfill. The more you get the better.

2 - Add sequestrant. Doing so should help contain the iron in a soluble form, but the iron is still there and a sequestrant will need to be replenished.

I have to ask though, it's not even been 3 days. Why did your builder add chemicals already? And why in the world so much chlorine? That elevated FC level is surely aggravating the iron.

You are waiting on your K-2006, so where did those numbers come from? The pool store?

In case you decide to do the polyfill route. Here is one of my FAVs.

Not sure, I don’t really trust him. Local pool supply store.

My skimmers arnt operational yet, just using his over the deck system. He said to the plaster dust doesn’t clog my new filter. I ordered some Jacks Magic Magenta, but it won’t be here until Friday. Is there something I might be able to find locally I can used while I wait?

I know tomorrow is a holiday, but you might try reaching out to him to find out what was added to the water and why. It's odd chlorine was added to new plaster. Tell them about your intention to add sequestration products. If you can dig up a separate pump and bucket with poly that would be a good idea.

@JoyfulNoise anything else you would advise in this awkward situation?
