LED Lights Wiring

We've run into a bit of a problem after our resurfacing. We got new 2 LED lights put in - the cables are already run through the deck and come out inside the pool cage. We used to have fiber optic before but were told that wasn't an option nowadays. Anyway, the pool pump and all the pool equipment is of course outside the cage. The previous setup had the fiber optic box plugged into a GFI outlet next to it, inside the cage. I'm being told that you can't plug LED lights into the GFI. I know nothing about electricity, so is that true? Is there any way to make this work?

What type of light? Are they 120V or 12V? If the latter, a transformer and a way to turn the power on and off is needed. If the former, the switch that controls them should have its power come from the properly installed GFCI and then into a junction box along with the required neutral and ground.

They're Hayward ColorLogic 320. I think they're 12V.
