Hasa Acquires Orenda Technologies

We are thrilled to announce Hasa’s expansion into these professional-grade specialty products, which the industry increasingly recognizes as critical to maintain safe, clean and clear water in swimming pools and spas

Hahahaha. I have never once added an Orenda product to my pool and it’s been safe, clean and clear for 10+ years …. 😂

But they are evangelists for proper LSI and proper water chemistry when filling a pool after plastering, I consulted with their CEO when I was considering switching from epoxy to plaster. (Long story.) HASA is expanding aggressively, and in a podcast about the acquisition the HASA CEO said that the combination is aimed more at the professional market than at homeowners.

And yes, I don't use their products either. TFP keeps things simple.

(Almost out of pity, I kibbitz on a "pool maintenance" group on Facebook. One guy's 2 year old plaster pool had turned into sandpaper because of low LSI. Another new pool owner couldn't figure out why he had splotchy color in his month-old pool. Several of us in the group have a canned response: "Strongly suggest that you check out the Pool School, etc. at TroubleFreePool[.]com". We try to be gentle with the proud new pool owners whose PB didn't give them any instructions on water chemistry for their newly filled pool.)

I appreciate Orenda’s position on proper saturation index control but they go way overboard on it to the point of amidst making it seem more important than sanitation. They sell lots of scale and stain control products so I can see where their motivation comes from. But the reality is one can easily maintain a pool within decent SI limits without going overboard.

They also push phosphate control and UV/Ozone systems. There is zero need for a secondary sanitizing system to sanitize already sanitary water.

But if the UV/Ozone is used to help with not properly sanitizing the pool in the first place, then maybe phosphates matter for their program.

I understand that they are in talks with Clorox to combine operations into a giant corporation spewing out worthless products through retail chains like Leslie's in a never ending cycle of creating and solving pool problems.

However, the information comes from an unreliable source, so who knows.

C/asa Orenda sounds like a really nice resort with a south of the border flair to it. (y)

Depends on how good their fish tacos are … you only get one chance to impress me with your tacos and I’m not easy to please …
